There are rereleases of all the old stuff from the ‘80s and ‘90s lining book shelves and DVD bins. Nickelodeon has a stop-go animated series that’d be pretty good if it didn’t take month-long breaks every two or three episodes. IDW has two ongoing comic books plus a rotating selection of miniseries to read. I suppose the saving grace is that for a fan of the Ninja Turtles, it’s not like this movie is the only new thing out there right now. My friends have tried egging me into rants with leading questions like, “So, have you seen the new Turtles trailer? Is it true the TMNT are gonna be aliens? Did you know Michael Bay’s making a TMNT movie? Eh? Eh? EH?” I think I got poked with a stick enough that I went numb, because that’s certainly how I felt both before and after I left the theater. So since I had some free movie ticket vouchers sitting around waiting to be expired, I thought what the hell, let me just see how it is myself. Although TMNT gotten mostly negative reviews from the “top critics” in the west (according to Rotten Tomatoes), some people I know actually said that it’s not that bad if you don’t take it seriously. Besides, this is my first review in 20 days and initially, I didn’t want to watch it at all, so I’ll give myself a break. Since the film has already been released for more than 2 weeks, I’ll make this review a quick and straightforward one (but it turned out way longer than I wanted it to be).
